Juneteenth now established as a federal holiday is the Commemoration of the ending of Chattel Slavery in the United States and given all that our ancestors endured I don’t see an issue at all with honoring the sacrifices and hardships that they endured for us to be here today. “Then the Lord said to him, “Know for certain that for four hundred years your descendants will be strangers in a country not their own and that they will be enslaved and mistreated there.
